Alright, I wasn't going to say anything, but I will tell my family. Some already know. I am going to have the MGB surgery on April 2nd. I have been researching about it and reading and writing a report about what I have read. It tells about the risks, and benefits of this surgery. I have to also plan an exercise program for afterwards. I am not going into this blindly. I have found a Dr. I trust and with as little complications as I can. The booklet tells all about how the surgery is done. There is also an internet site that you can watch. It shows the surgery and they also talk to patients that have had it done. I have to join an email group (Yahoo) and ask 10 different MGBers questions about the surgery, etc. It is the support group. I have been preparing what they call a packet. It is to help me prepare and know what I am getting into. And their way of making sure I read the book by making us do a report. It explains the pros and cons and compares the MGB to other surgeries of this type. It also helps me to know the vitamins, supplements, and meds I will need to take, etc. I also have to do follow up reports, meeting with the doctor. It is done with 5 ports, not a large incision. The doctors name is Dr. Rutledge. He is at the old St. Rose hospital in Henderson on Lake Mead. He is very open about everything, which is one of the reasons I chose him, and I feel that the requirement to do this report/packet is a good thing. I will know quickly if there is a problem what to do. He answers his cell phone and has an email that I need to check into to let him know after the surgery how it is going. He doesn't just forget about you once you have had the surgery. I never thought I would do this, and after studying the information in the booklet and the statistics I wouldn't do this with anyone else. So pray that all goes well. I honestly feel it will. The recovery time is a lot quicker than other surgeries that are similar. I'll get out the next day if all goes well. It is a very short time for the surgery 30-40 minutes. I can start exercise right away, even sit ups and weight lifting. I am not supposed to drive for a week, but that is okay. The doctor and his staff are very friendly. I looked for the least invasive and the surgery with the least complications. I really feel I was led to this one. This is the real reason why I have not been blogging lately. Hey, how do I add Jillian to my blog ? I do not remember. I am also thinking of doing another blog for MGBers so I can track my progress.
